TIPSY
Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: September 19, 2026
Our commitment
Tipsy is used by bartenders, servers, kitchen staff, managers and bookkeepers, on phones during service and on laptops in the office. We want every one of them to be able to use it, including people who rely on a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or reduced motion. We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What is in place
- Every interactive control has a text label or an accessible name, including icon-only buttons.
- Pages work at phone width without side-scrolling, and text can be enlarged with browser zoom.
- Forms report errors and confirmations in text, not colour alone; required fields and invalid entries are announced.
- The interface uses a dark theme with light text; body text and controls are designed to meet the AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1.
- Keyboard focus is visible, and dialogs close with Escape.
- Images that carry meaning have alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Notifications on phones use the device's own notification system, so they respect its accessibility settings.
Known limitations
We are honest about what does not yet meet the standard. As of this statement:
- Drag-and-drop on the schedule. Moving a shift by dragging has a keyboard and touch alternative (open the shift and change its time), but the drag itself is mouse-only.
- Printed labels and PDF exports. Generated PDFs (schedules, close packets, prep labels) are not yet tagged for screen readers.
- Charts. Reporting charts show their values in an adjacent table where one exists; some charts on the Reports page do not yet have a text equivalent.
- Third-party content. Payment pages hosted by our billing provider and embedded POS screens follow their own accessibility practices.
These are on our list. Each release note calls out accessibility fixes as they ship.
Tell us what is in your way
If any part of Tipsy is hard or impossible for you to use, tell us and we will work with you to get the task done and fix the underlying problem. Use the ? button inside the app, or email support@tipsyapp.io with the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use. We aim to respond within two business days.
Technical information
Tipsy is a web application built with standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript and is designed to work with current versions of Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and with VoiceOver, TalkBack and NVDA. Accessibility is reviewed as part of each design change; automated checks run in development and manual checks are done on the screens staff use most.
